"I wonder if you know some good exercises/prompts/meditations for opening the heart chakra, to live in compassion - no matter what, even if other people try to pull you down. What do you do when people give you bad comments or try to hurt you?" This is a big, beautiful question. This post barely scratches the surface of answering it, but it's a starting point. Because this, this, truly is everything. Everything that I do here - intuitively, energetically, spiritually -- all of this work is of the heart. The foundation of all of this is to live from the heart, from a place of compassion. Above all else, I believe this is our destiny as humans. This is the energy being here now. This is the lesson our souls remind us of each day. When we live from the heart, from the seat of compassion, we live in our true nature. Divine Love is non-judgmental, and that is what we are. When we move out of alignment with that truth (which we all do), we feel uncomfortable, we sense a dis-ease in the heart. The heart is the midpoint of the human energy system. The chakras, from crown to root, meet in the center - the heart. Emotionally painful situations like break-ups, grief, abuse, abandonment - can wound the heart chakra. And the first step in healing a wounded (or “broken”) heart, is to love yourself. Baggage 02/22/2012
 I said that it took me a while in my relationship with Tracy to learn to leave my baggage at the door.
It took me a while to realize that I was even carrying baggage. I had done so much journaling, forgiving, honoring -- all the spiritual stuff of release --that I assumed release had happened. In short, I was trying to be peaceful about something that I wasn't peaceful about at all. I thought I could just say goodbye to it, put it behind me, and get on with loving myself and someone else. My goodness, I sure didn't want to waste anymore time with this thing. So, Tracy and I went forward together, both of stumbling a lot at first (because he, too, was carrying some pretty hefty suitcases), and I didn't share much with him about the past, because I didn't want to pull it in to the future. I was done with it, remember? But it wasn't done with me. Because I hadn't really let it go. Part of the reason I love to share guest posts here is to open up the discussion to practices and perspectives different than my own. I'm thrilled to share a post today from Randi of Bunny Sunday. Since today marks the new moon, I thought it would be a good time to look forward to the coming full moon. Randi shares with us a full moon practice, which I found illuminating:  The moon is at the heart of most Neo-Pagan spiritual practices. Witches and other Pagans watch the moon the way most people watch the weather report. In fact, in many traditions each of the thirteen full moons (one each month plus the Blue Moon) have a name and a purpose. Witches regard the full moon as a time to cast spells and practice rituals in honor of the Goddess or, in broader terms, the feminine energy of the universe. This celebration is called an Esbat.

I mentioned that I'm writing a series of posts about relationships, in particular, my relationship with Tracy. I've been on a winding journey with love and I've learned a lot about being coupled, being single, wanting partnership, saying goodbye, and staying committed. It feels like a good time to be considering the topic of how to be in love with others, since it's February, and since I'm busy doing oracle card readings around relationship issues. I'm wondering, is there anything you'd like for me to write about when it comes to love? Do you wonder anything about my relationship, my past relationships, what the angels have to say about our relationships with one another? Do you wonder about the energetics of seeking a relationship or staying in one? Do you wonder about love and chakras? I gratefully await your questions.

 Today I'm 43. I've learned some things in my life so far. This is my philosophy: Say I love you when you feel it. Don't think first. Don't hesitate. When it comes to cake, go dark chocolate and full fat. Talk long walks at night in the rain. Let the stars be your map. Sing to yourself. Everyday. Expect miracles. Savor every bite of food you put in your mouth. Use all of your taste buds. Drink more water. When in doubt, choose love. Burn your candles. Use fancy soap. Make toasts. Say blessings. Wear wigs of different colors. If you think you look fat in the pants, get rid of them. Believe in fairies. Write. Don't hang around people who make you feel small. Trust your instincts. Don't spend time in places that drain you. Find the shiny people. Say hello. Dance. Clear out your drawers. Don't get caught up in the past. Make room for the future. Breathe into your heart.
